Dr. Hesham Lakosha MD, FRCSED, FRCSC
Dr. Hesham Lakosha completed his medical training at the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom. He then went on to complete two post-doctoral fellowships—one in ocular oncology at Toronto’s Princess Margaret Hospital, and the other in Vitreoretinal training at St. Michael’s Hospital, also in Toronto.
Dr Lakosha is an assistant professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Dalhousie University. He is actively participating in lecturing and tutoring residents and undergraduate medical students.
Dr. Lakosha has been practicing as a comprehensive ophthalmologist and eye surgeon for close to 20 years. He has experience performing anterior segment procedures for cataracts, laser correction, glaucoma and pterygium.
Dr. Lakosha is also on staff at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Halifax, where he provides special services in ocular oncology and diagnostic ultrasound.

Dr. Lakosha was awarded the best teacher in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences in 2013. He has presented at prestigious conferences held by the International Congress of Ocular Oncology, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Canadian Ophthalmology Society. Most of Dr. Lakosha’s research has been published in peer-reviewed journals.

During his leisure time, Dr. Lakosha enjoys spending time with family and friends, practicing yoga, weight training, cycling, gardening and travelling.
